Kevin A. Hahn, DVM, PhD, Dipl. ACVIM (Oncology)

Dr. Hahn is currently Chief Medical Officer, Director of Clinical Trials
& Claims for Hill’s Pet Nutrition, Inc. in Topeka, Kansas. He is a
native of Evansville, Indiana. He received a BS degree (1983) in Animal
Sciences, a DVM degree (1987), and PhD (1992) in Cytogenetics from
Purdue University. He completed an oncology internship (1988) and
residency (1991) at Purdue University. He became a Diplomate of the
American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology) in 2000.
Dr. Hahn was an Assistant Professor and Associate
Professor of Oncology at the University of Tennessee (1992-1999) and
served as Director of The Developmental Therapeutics Laboratory and
Medical Oncology Service. He received numerous awards for clinical,
teaching, and research excellence including the Norden Distinguished
Teacher Award and the Chancellor’s Award for Professional Promise in
Research and Creative Achievement. Dr. Hahn was Director of Oncology
Services and Clinical Oncology Investigations for Gulf Coast Veterinary
Specialists, Houston, Texas (1999-2007) and Director of Clinical Trial
Services for YourNetVet (2005-2007) before joining Hill’s Pet Nutrition,
Inc. in 2007.
Hill’s, a subsidiary of Colgate–Palmolive, is a $1.66 billion business
and global leader in the premium pet food market. They produce the
Nature’s Best®, Science Diet® and Prescription Diet® pet food brands
which are sold in over 87 countries. Dr. Hahn’s research interests
include the role of naturally occurring substances in the prevention or
treatment of companion animal disorders.
He serves(d) on over 60 academic, national and
international organizational committees; serves(d) as an Editorial Board
Member or Chair for over 20 national and international scientific
journals; serves(d) or chairs(ed) on the graduate committees of over 20
residents, Masters or PhD candidates; has authored over 70 peer-reviewed
scientific manuscripts, over 80 chapters in veterinary textbooks, over
100 scientific abstracts, over 500 invited professional papers, and has
participated in over 200 invited local, regional, national and
international presentations. He has been awarded over $3 million for
directing basic and clinical research grants or graduate programs. He is
the former Chair of the AVMA Council on Biologic and Therapeutic Agents.
But more importantly, Dr. Hahn is a husband, a father
of three boys, and actively involved in the local school community and
Boy Scouts of America.
