Chapter 10. Housekeeping

I. Individual responsibilities.

A. Each worker is responsible for keeping the work area clean and uncluttered.

B. Each worker should clean up the work area upon completion of an operation or at the end of each day.

C. Use skid-proof footstools and stepladders to reach high areas; do not use makeshift supports.

II. Physical facilities.

A. Appropriate warning signs shall be posted near any dangerous equipment or areas.

B. Exits and aisles must not be obstructed in any way. A minimum of 3 ft aisle should be maintained for safe passage and exiting.

C. No equipment, chairs, supplies or trash will be permitted in exit routes or areas.

D. Entrance doors to the work area should be kept closed whenever fumes, hazardous substances, or potentially hazardous working activities may occur.

III. Visitors.

A. All visitors to the work area should check in with the administrator or manager of the facility sign in at the administrative area and:.

B. All visitors should be supplied with adequate protective gear when necessary.

C. All visitors should be familiarized with any safety precautions necessary to be followed.

IV. Children.

A. Should not be permitted in the hazardous work areas

B. If necessary to be present, they should be restricted to administrative offices, reception areas, and directed to administrative rest rooms where such exist.
