Funding Opportunities

Rotary Grants for University Teachers

Rotary International and the local Manhattan Rotary Club invite applications for the Rotary Grants for University Teachers. This competitive program provides $12,500 to be used for travel abroad for 3-5 months to teach and consult in a low-income country. Applications must be in the District Office by August 4, so the local applicant should contact the local club no later than July 15, 2006 in order to work with the local club to prepare an application.

Last year the applicant from K-State, Dr. Sunanda Dissanayake, was awarded a grant to teach and consult in Sri Lanka, and she will be leaving this May for that assignment. Dr. Dissanayake, a transportation engineering specialist, will be working with the University of Peradeniya and Sri Lankan civil authorities to address transportation problems that were caused by the tsunami of December, 2004.
