K-State Veterinary Medicine Scholarship Recipients Recognized

By Brennan Engle and Sarah Erskine

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University recognized its outgoing seniors April 21 at the college's annual honors banquet. More than $90,000 in scholarships were presented to members of the class of 2006.

The scholarships and awards recognize those who have achieved in academics, leadership and specialty areas of study while in veterinary school. Many of the scholarships were established in memory of deceased veterinary students and alumni.

"It's also a time for the scholarship donors to meet the recipients, which is always nice," said Ronnie Elmore, associate dean of academic affairs for the college. "The donors appreciate meeting the students who will benefit from their sponsorships."

Several representatives from pharmaceutical companies that have established scholarships at K-State also were on hand to present their company recognitions.

"This year's senior class is a fantastic group," Elmore said. "They've excelled and will be extraordinary veterinarians."
