VECCS
Website
The KSU SCVECCS was
started in the spring 1995 by a group of interested students eager to enhance their
education in the field of emergency medicine and critical care. The purpose of this
organization is the advancement of knowledge and the promotion of the specialties of
emergency medicine and critical care, both for the awareness of the members, non-members
and the community. To this end this KSU SCVECCS will function in the following capacities:
Dissemination of information
about the functioning of the VECCS and SCVECCS to its membership,
particularly in regards to policy changes, activities, symposiums,
etc.
Dissemination of information
for the purposes of informing the SVECCS of the activities therein,
and for the members to garner information and enthusiasm from the
activities of others.
Encourage the inclusion of
emergency medicine and critical care topics in the curriculums and
finances of the SCVECCS.
To make available to the
members, a comprehensive list of those veterinary clinics across the
United States specializing in emergency medicine and/or critical care
and whom are willing to make preceptorships available to the
veterinary students.
Encourage the pursuit of
internships or residencies in emergency medicine and critical care by
the veterinary students.
To encourage veterinary
students to pursue activities related to emergency medicine and
critical care, such that students are able to gain exposure and
experience in this important topic prior to graduation.
We will be holding meetings once a month with dates and times to be
announced. Hands-on wet labs and/or demonstrations will be scheduled throughout the year
and will include basic techniques seen and used in emergency medicine. Each class will
have one representative who will be responsible for dissemination of the
organization's activities. We welcome students with all species interests as well as
emergency medicine and encourage those with diverse or special backgrounds to share their
experiences. We look forward to including you into membership.
