Each year, the Pet Tribute allocates over $25,000 to veterinary
medical students and the College.
The Perpetual Pet Care Program
The Perpetual Pet Care Program offers companion animal caregivers
the unique opportunity to make special arrangements which guarantee
the continuous protection and well-being of their pets in the event
of a disability or death. How Does the Program Work? When your client can no longer provide personal daily care for his
or her companion, the College of Veterinary Medicine becomes
responsible for the pet. Under direct faculty supervision, trained
veterinary students work with clinical specialists at the Veterinary
Medical Teaching Hospital to attend to all the emotional and
physical needs of each pet until the appropriate and carefully
screened adoptive home can be identified. Animal companion specialists at the College of Veterinary Medicine
collaborate with Perpetual Pet Care Program staff to identify the
pet’s new adoptive home using the precise wishes and specifications
outlined by your client. Funds from you client’s endowed gift are
designated to offer lifelong medical coverage for his or her pet. Clients participating in the program not only gain peace of mind and
personal comfort knowing they have planned for the future care and
protection of their pets, they also will know that they are
contributing substantially to the long-term advancement of
veterinary medical education and clinical care.
Development Office Priority Projects
Equine Performance Testing and Education Center The KSU Foundation is currently accepting tax-deductible donations
to build a state of the art facility that will make Kansas State
University the premier equine diagnostic and lameness testing center
in the world. Your clients may wish to contribute to this remarkable
endeavor and they will have a myriad of choices in “naming
opportunities” for the building, office suites, stables and
individual stalls, examination areas, high-speed treadmill facility,
ground reaction force plate area, and the most advanced indoor
exercise arena in the nation.
Animal Compassion Home and Education Center The College of Veterinary Medicine will soon become the leading
venue for the discussion of human-animal bonding and respect, the
development of assisted therapies, and the enhancement of animal
shelter veterinary training. This cutting-edge facility will become
an axis of dialogue and collaboration for humane societies, animal
shelters, veterinarians, and pet caregivers across the country.
Diverse youth and senior groups who are interested in assisted
therapies will partner with Kansas State University. The Animal
Compassion Home and Education Center will also serve as a transition
home for pets enrolled in the Perpetual Pet Care Program.
National Agriculture and Biosecurity Center With the construction of the National Agriculture and Biosecurity
Center, Kansas State University will expand vital ongoing efforts to
protect America’s agricultural infrastructure and economy from
endemic and emerging biological threats.
Scholarship Funding To recruit a diverse and outstanding student body, the College
offers competitive scholarship packages. K-State supporters endow
strategically awarded scholarships which not only help students, but
significantly reduce the general student debt.
Faculty Chairs and Professorships With only 27 veterinary schools in the United States, our ability to
excel is fundamentally linked to successful recruitment of the most
distinguished faculty in the nation. The College is currently
seeking donors to endow Faculty Chairs and Professorships which help
offer competitive salaries, benefits, research funding and
facilities and attract exceptional professors and research
specialists.
