Dear Dr. Fingland:
We are writing to express our gratitude to Dr. Susan Nelson for the care
she gave our English Setter, Marty, during his 13+ year lifespan. We
lost him Aug. 31 due to complications from long-term hip dysplasia and
more recently, mass cell tumors.
Marty was diagnosed with hip dysplasia at only 2-3 years of age by Dr.
Nelson several years ago when she worked at a local vet clinic. When she
took her current position at the KSU Veterinary Medical Teaching
Hospital a few years ago, we just knew we needed to follow her because
of the confidence we had in her. Dr. Nelson was sensitive to Marty’s
needs, both physically and emotionally. She understood his personality
and the best way to care for and treat him. She went out of her way to
ensure Marty’s comfort, answer our questions, and to check on his
condition.
Dr. Nelson is all one could hope for in a veterinarian, and we know
Marty would not have reached a normal lifespan if it wasn’t for the care
he was given. We were so privileged to be Marty’s family, and we miss
him terribly. Although we continue to grieve for our pet, we didn’t want
all those years of special veterinary care to go unnoticed. Our many
thanks to Dr. Nelson for her caliber of knowledge and service to our
beloved pet.
Sincerely,
Robert & Becky Beckley
