Development Associate, R&D Reports To: Development Manager Department: R&D, Product Development Location: Fort Worth, Texas Description: Virbac Research and Development is responsible for the ongoing support of existing products, and the development of new products in a highly regulated environment. Successful execution of those responsibilities is critical to both the long-term and short-term success of the Business. Complexities inherent in support and development processes necessitate the efforts of a highly integrated team of skilled professionals in order to meet Regulatory, Operational, Business and Personal objectives. The Development Associate is critical to the success of the R&D team and requires the skills and talents of a highly competent and energetic colleague. The Development Associate is a very hands-on position, which must also be able to plan and coordinate the present and future activities of various team members. Working closely with the Development Managers, a successful performer should acquire earned responsibility for the successful delivery of team outcomes. The position requires a personality that while very self-motivated and disciplined, is capable of flexibility, and problem solving while maintaining uncompromising integrity. Broad Function: Support product development activities for the R&D, Product Development Group in Fort Worth. Assist Development Manager(s) in those activities leading to the registration of new products, maintenance of existing products, or related activities as necessary. Study Monitoring and Quality Control of development studies. Maintain high level of documentation to support development activities. Essential Functions: Prepare and assist in setting up development studies to support product dossiers. Prepare and assist in preparation of documents (protocols, forms, charts, etc.) for research studies. Train and assist in training investigators and their staff to conduct development studies. Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily activities for projects and communicate progress within the company and with outside contractors. Audit data and documents and perform Good Clinical Practices (GCP) data quality audits for Development Projects. Respond to issues and requests by investigators during their execution of development studies. Assist, conduct, and plan QC, close-out and audit activities of development studies. Work with outside contractors in maintaining compliance with protocols, and SOPs. Assist in the preparation of Final Study Reports and data analysis for development studies. Assist in the preparation of document packages for submission to regulatory authorities. Training and Education: BS/BA or MS in a Technical or Science Curriculum. Training and knowledge of regulations regarding the use of animals in research. Training and knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). Critical Talents & Skills: Working knowledge of Office Automation Tools in a Microsoft dominated environment. (e.g., Word, Excel, etc.). Excellent writing skills, particularly technical/science writing. Excellent verbal and social skills with an affinity for working in stressful and fast-paced environments. Detail oriented. Excellent organizational and communication skill. Working knowledge of CFRs relevant to FDA/CVM Working knowledge of GCPs and GLPs. Able to read and understand medical records. Travel: Predominantly within the US, with some Canadian potential. Normally 20-40%, with periods as much as 80%.
