MedVet Memphis Veterinary Specialty Hospital offers an exciting opportunity for an Internist looking to join our busy and rapidly growing multidisciplinary referral and emergency critical care center in Memphis, TN. We are seeking an energetic and motivated person who is bard certified or who has recently completed residency training. At MedVet you will work hand in hand with our team of specialists that include Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Dermatology and Physical Therapy. We have a deep referral base that extends throughout Tennessee, Northern Mississippi, and Eastern Arkansas - collectively, the Mid-South. Our facility is state-of-the-art and includes a CT scanner, ultrasound, endoscopy, underwater treadmill, and an I-131 facility. Health Assurance Veterinarian CORPORATE MISSION STATEMENT: Leadership in creating value through the innovative application of genetics to animal breeding REPORTS TO: Director of Health Assurance, PIC North America POSITION LOCATION: PIC North America Corporate Headquarters; Hendersonville, TN POSITION AIM: The successful candidate will have exceptional opportunities participating in the implementation and maintenance of the PIC Health Assurance Program. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Degree of Veterinary Medicine DVM from an accredited veterinary college. Experience in swine medicine/production with sound veterinary practical skills. Masters degree, certification program, or other advanced education in swine health and production desired Familiarity with computers, spreadsheets, database and production records desired. Outstanding communication and organizational skills. Appreciation for systems and how to improve them. Willing to travel both domestically and internationally. Team Player. RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in implementing and maintaining PIC North America’s Health Assurance program. Provide Health Assurance Services to PIC multiplication and PIC customers including but not limited to: Propose PIC product source for customers’ systems both domestically and internationally. Provide health status information concerning genetic sources to customers in a timely manner including: production structure of the herd, diagnostic results, production performance data, herd health history, vaccination status, monthly herd report summaries, and slaughter check data. Establish effective professional relationships with customers’ veterinarians and key production personnel to enable PIC Account Plan objectives. Interface with PIC Technical Services and PIC Account Managers on health related issues concerning genetic sources. Perform health and biosecurity audits of the PIC multiplication pyramid and customers’ systems. Communicate PIC Health Assurance strategy and tactics to customers Make specific best-practice recommendations to customers that will maximize genetic potential of PIC products within customers’ herds. Provide welfare assessments to PIC multiplication and customers as needed. Organize and participate in meetings between customer veterinarians and PIC. Remain current in area of responsibility through establishing a network of industry & academic contacts, studying literature and attending scientific/industry meetings.
