The MSPCA- Angell Animal Medical Center (AAMC) in Boston, MA is seeking applicants for a staff position in oncology. The AAMC opened its doors in 1915 and is one of the most acclaimed veterinary practices in the country, caring for approximately 48,000 animals a year. Angell is part of the MSPCA, one of the oldest and most respected humane organizations in the world. Angell serves Boston and the greater New England area as a primary care facility, a 24-hour emergency hospital, and as a tertiary referral center. The veterinary staff is composed of 42 senior staff, 16 interns, and 21 residents. The senior staff includes specialists in the areas of avian and exotic medicine, cardiology and cardiac surgery, dentistry, dermatology, emergency and critical care medicine, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, nutrition, medical and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, diagnostic imaging, and surgery. The hospital contains a state of the art critical care unit, a well-stocked blood bank, multiple specialty rooms, 6 surgical suites, a Diagnostic Imaging Center including CT and MRI, an intermediate care ward, and numerous general care and isolation wards. Our facility also includes a dedicated chemotherapy suite and linear accelerator. Our current oncology staff is comprised of an oncologist board certified in radiation and medical oncology, a dedicated oncology intern, three oncology technicians and a secretary. We are seeking a board certified veterinary medical oncologist. The qualified individual will be responsible for receiving patients with problems limited to the specialty of oncology, participation in mentorship and training of the oncology intern, medicine residents and the interns, providing consultations to the Angell veterinary staff and acting as a resource to our referral community. Candidates must demonstrate aptitude for multi-taking and working successfully in a team environment. The successful candidate should be able to communicate effectively and respectfully, both in writing and verbally, to the veterinary and technical staff as well as clients and referring veterinarians. Qualified applicants must have a DVM or equivalent and ACVIM-Oncology board certification. Board eligible candidates may be considered.
