Practice Type:Mixed
Job Type:Associate
Progressive, Mixed Animal Practice Seeking Associate (s) We’ve lived and worked in big cities, but we’ve found that small town living suits us best. If you are looking for a family oriented community with a strong emphasis on education (We rank as one of the top towns in the state for sending our kids onto pursue higher education), affordable housing, excellent medical care and an extremely low crime rate, Oberlin, KS may be just what you are looking for! Our little town of around 2500 is located within three hours of Lincoln, Nebraska and four hours of Denver, CO for those of you who need a big city “fix” from time to time. Our two doctor mixed animal practice is seeking at least one more full-time associate to help us keep up with the growth our area has been experiencing. We’re ready to offer a new graduate a great mentoring opportunity (we’ve mentored several in the last 20 years) but would also welcome the knowledge of an experienced practitioner. Our philosophy here is simple: we’re dedicated to offering quality service to our friends and neighbors and let the “Golden Rule” of treating others the way we want to be treated, guide our actions. We take great pride in our staff and our facilities. Everything we do and say affects how our clients perceive us and there’s no better way to make a first impression than to wow a prospective client with quality customer service and a spotless facility. We’re not your typical small-town practice with regards to the equipment we offer our associates. We sit on six acres and our small animal facility was built in 1994. On the small animal side we offer: 2 Exam rooms Laboratory Conference room Surgery suite Indoor Kennels (18 pet capacity) Outdoor Runs and Fenced Yard Grooming Room individual offices for our veterinarians and manager Small animal Ultrasound Digital Radiography is shared with local hospital Ultrasonic Dental Scaler and Polisher In-house Laboratory Our large animal facility features: Complete Outdoor working facility including an alleyway, circle, holding pens Full-tub W-W Hydraulic tilt-over Chute with digital scale (100lb – 3000lb cattle) and side exit In-door Large Animal Facility (40 x 40 Large animal enclosed hospital – power washing, concrete floor, own septic system) Obstetrical Unit for calving Isolation Unit Incubator Ultrasound Two portable chutes to take to the country – one is hydraulic Calf Cradle (Able to fit on a portable table for ranch calls) two hydraulic Chutes – One at each of the livestock auctions we attend (Monday and Thursday); Two fully equipped Ford Pickups with Brewer Vet Boxes Equipment and staff allow us to practice great medicine, but what is truly unique about our practice is the attention we pay to ensuring the success of new associates. Our decision to add additional associates is a studied one, and we are confident that the market is ready for us to expand. A practice in a neighboring town is about to close its doors, which provides us the opportunity to expand on the number of clients we already serve in a 14 county radius. We’re offering the right candidate(s) an opportunity to practice great food animal medicine, while also dabbling in small animal work. Our caseload is about 25% small animal and 75% large animal. Our large animal work breaks down into about 20% stockers/backgrounders, 5-8% feedlot and the rest is cow/calf. Our average herd size is 130-140 head (up from about 60 head several years ago), and we also work two sale barns. Our practice “specialties” are: Repro work Diagnostic investigation and problem solving on large herds Feed analysis to improve operations Our plan for a new veterinarian is to immerse him/her in all aspects of the practice as well as allow you to explore and grow your own areas of interest. Technical skills are important, especially in the area of palpation and breeding soundness, but soft skills such as communication are equally as critical. We can teach technical skills, but we can’t teach a passion for veterinary medicine and serving our clients. Since we are in a small town, it’s important that you and your family (if applicable) enjoy rural America and appreciate the lifestyle we offer. In return for what you’ll bring to our practice and team, we’re excited to offer: A competitive base salary Health Insurance Malpractice Insurance Disability Insurance Pension Plan after 3 years Vacation Professional Dues – AVMA and State Association Licensing (KS and NE License) Paid Continuing Education Truck For more information, please contact Stith Keiser at 720-323-9651 (Cell), skeiser@myveterinarycareer.com or 866.347.8543 (fax).

Our two doctor, mixed animal practice (80% small animal, 12% cattle and 8% equine) is growing and is looking for a third full-time associate. We have just begun our search for the right candidate and are excited about the opportunity we have to offer. We’re located in a college town right on Interstate 70. The college educates about 4500 students a year and the town supports 20,000 residents. We’ve also been experiencing positive population growth over the last several years, one of the contributing factors to our growing practice. As a result of having a university, we have a wide variety of recreational opportunities ranging from several golf courses to a large water park for kids to many restaurants and evening-out options. The country surrounding us also offers opportunities for hunting, camping and riding. Our practice currently has a staff of two full-time veterinarians, a practice manager, several veterinary technicians, three client service representatives, six full and part-time kennel attendants and two large animal assistants that help us out with our large animal caseload. A third veterinarian will be backed by this experienced, knowledgeable support staff and will have the following equipment/facilities at their fingertips: in-house lab Ultrasound Endoscope X-ray Laser Dental equipment Two exam rooms Surgery Suite Two Chutes Large animal facilities capable of accommodating 20 head Horse Stalls We have the ability to refer out cases, to Kansas State, but we typically only send 2-3 out per month. We also offer boarding and basic grooming. Our practice has a long-standing history and we’ve been operating since 1946. Our mission statement is short and sweet, “A tradition of service.” We believe in offering high-quality medicine and make an effort to offer above average client service in the process. On an average day, we see between 30 and 40 appointments plus 30-40 walk-ins. We also do between 5-7 surgeries per day (Monday – Thursday) with two doctors and should be able to do closer to 9-10 with three doctors. On Fridays we try to schedule dentals. The ideal associate should have 2-3 years of experience and be willing to work in a laidback, yet certainly not sloppy or lackadaisical, environment. We have a team-oriented staff, with extremely low turnover, and foster this via staff meetings. A new associate should also be willing to do, or learn, orthopedic surgery. An outgoing personality, the ability to be accommodating to clients (give clients options and let them chose) are also vital to your success. We will reward the right candidate with: Competitive Salary (beginning around 65K depending on experience) Continuing Education - local, state and national meetings All Licensing Fees and Dues Vehicle for large animal duty or mileage reimbursement if you choose to use your own vehicle A percentage of the emergency fee when you’re on-call Health Insurance
