Welcome to Vale Park Animal Hospital Vale Park Animal Hospital was purchased in 1990, by Dr. Jerry Rodenbarger. The clinic was a 2,100 square foot facility run with two veterinarians and about eight support staff. Over several years, Dr. Randi Olson and Dr. MaryAnn Sheller joined Dr. Rodenbarger, becoming partners in the practice. The three owners remodeled and expanded our facility in 1994. The practice is now a busy 5,400 square foot, 5-doctor, small animal (primarily canine and feline) practice with a practice manager, an office manager, three RVTs and 25 additional support staff. We are proud to have some of the warmest staff in veterinary medicine. Even though our practice has grown tremendously, we work to maintain the “small clinic atmosphere.” We have five doctors at Vale Park Animal Hospital. Dr. Jerry Rodenbarger, Dr. Randi Olson and Dr. MaryAnn Sheller are the three owners. Dr. Bill Donohue and Dr. Meredith Evans are our associates. Our five doctors have various special interests with continued education in several different areas including animal behavior, canine reproduction, orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine. The practice’s equipment includes: ISTAT in-house blood machine, pulse oximeters, IV infusion pumps, Ultrasonic Scaler/Polisher unit, x-ray machine with automatic processor, Vetronics ECG machine, flexible video endoscope, Vetscope, Therapeutic Laser and a Novapulse surgical laser. We also have the local veterinary laboratory, Clinilab, that picks up our samples twice a day and we have most results within twelve hours. Our clinic utilizes North Central Veterinary Emergency Clinic (at PNC) to care for our emergency patients between 6:00PM and 8:00AM Monday through Friday and on weekends, Saturday 1:00PM to Monday 8:00AM. We feel this keeps our doctors energized for our busy daily schedule. We have four RVTs along with several Veterinary Assistants and Receptionists to assist our doctors. Our reception staff schedule appointments, direct phone calls and make clients comfortable and cared for, while they are being checked in to see the doctors. Our Technicians are responsible for patient care of medical and surgical cases, anesthesia administration and monitoring, client and lay-staff education. We utilize our Veterinary Technician and Veterinary Assistant staff to their fullest capabilities. This allows our veterinarians to offer the very best medicine to more of their patients and clients. Our surgeon is scheduled four to six surgeries (anesthetic procedures) from 8-1 each weekday. We schedule twenty-minute routine appointments, ten-minute rechecks and thirty-minute new client and/or new patient appointments. We see appointments 8-12 and 2-6, with emergencies seen as needed. We try to get our doctors out (for lunch) for an hour during our 12-2 slot. There are 1-2 RVTs and 2-3 Assistants to maintain the flow of exam rooms on a daily basis. Our Assistants fill and prep the exam rooms for the doctors. They arrange for lab samples to be retrieved, gather supplies and prescriptions and do a majority of the client education. This leaves our RVTs available to get x-rays, collect and run samples, get the doctor’s treatment plans running, field client calls and maintain the lab flow. Most times our Techs will be able to get x-rays or bloodwork done, while the client waits. However, when a complete work-up is needed, the doctor may check with the Tech, to see if it would be best to have the client leave the pet with us for an hour or so. At Vale Park Animal Hospital, our doctors and staff offer our clients the best medicine for their pets and then aid them in deciding what is best for their particular household.
