Toxicology Residency Program

The Toxicology Residency program in the Department allows the participant to be thoroughly trained in clinical and diagnostic toxicology with a sound foundation for understanding the biochemical bases of chemically induced disease. Specialties such as Biochemical Toxicology, Analytical Toxicology, and Risk Assessment are also options for interested students. The program affords eligibility toward the candidacy for certification by the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology and the American Board of Toxicologists. This program prepares residents for careers as toxicologists in academia, industry, government or public service, or private consultative practice. Opportunities are provided in the training program to develop multi-disciplinary skills in investigative planning, research, teaching, analytical toxicology, and problem solving in clinical diagnosis. The Toxicology faculty makes appointments are made on a year-by-year basis with the usual length of study to complete the residency training being three years.
