Toxicology Guidelines

The Kansas State Veterinary Diagnostic Toxicology Laboratory provides chemical analyses of biological fluids, tissues and suspected hazardous sources to confirm intoxications. Analyses are commonly performed for pesticides, mycotoxins, metals, and animal and plant compounds as well as toxins from feed, water and air; household chemicals and drugs are also evaluated. Details on specific tests offered, samples to be submitted, how samples should be preserved, required analysis time and cost of analysis are shown in the Sample Submission Guidelines and Toxicology Tests and Fees pages. The analyses listed on these pages are quantitative unless otherwise noted. Methods are constantly being added and improved, so please inquire about desired tests that are not listed. In addition, samples for more unusual tests can be submitted by us to other appropriate laboratories.
