Bacteriology & Mycology Tests and Fees

The bacteriology and mycology laboratory of KSVDL provides high quality diagnostic bacteriology and mycology services to practicing veterinarians, the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, researchers and industry. This is an AAVLD accredited laboratory.

  • We provide routine aerobic and anaerobic culture for isolation and identification of bacterial and fungal pathogens.
  • We provide antimicrobial susceptibility testing for pathogens of veterinary significance.
  • We perform a liquid culture (with PCR confirmation) for Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (Johne’s disease).
  • We offer ELISA-based detection of Clostridium difficile toxins and Clostridium perfringens enterotoxin.
  • We culture for multiple species of Mycoplasma spp.
  • We are an approved lab for Johne’s testing by NVSL.
  • We participate in the yearly AAVLD bacteriology proficiency test.
