Perpetual Pet Care

  Perpetual Pet Care
Pet ownership is a life-long commitment.  Many are concerned for the needs of their pet companions if the owner is disabled or in the event of the death of the pet owner(s).

The human/animal bond is strong and unbreakable.   The commitment of the College of Veterinary Medicine is to insure pet owners their pet companions will be cared for and placed in loving and caring homes.  By "planning today for loving care tomorrow," you can meet your pet's future needs while helping us train tomorrow's veterinarians.

The Perpetual Pet Care Program at the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine ensures that your pet will receive loving care despite what might happen to you or your life partner.

How Does the Program Work?

  • Pet owners who want to ensure continuous care for their pet(s) make arrangements with the Kansas State University Foundation for provision in the Perpetual Pet Care Program.  A Memorandum of Understanding is established that allows the pet owner to define specific preferences for the short-term and long-term care of their pet(s).Students provide daily care for a enrolled dog

  • When a pet owner can no longer provide personal daily care for their pet(s), and the pet has been enrolled, the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University will step in.  Housing and previously arranged care is available immediately following the placement of the pet(s) in the program. Students will care for each enrolled pet daily with clinical specialists in the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at Kansas State University providing veterinary services, as they are needed.

The Program Benefits

Pet(s)

  • Is assured access to a loving home, companionship and exceptional care in the event that its owner is no longer able to provide appropriate care.

  • Is assured immediate access to medical care by board-certified veterinarians.

  • Is immediately entered into the KSU-CVM adoption program.  Students and volunteers at the college will provide loving companionship for each pet in the program.  We also recognize the importance of placing each enrolled pet in a loving and secure family setting.  The adoption program places the pet with an individual or family that best fulfills the recommendations of the owners.
