Dr. Bishan Das and Mrs. Ram Bai Minocha Scholarship in Veterinary Medicine Established

     Dr. Harish and Mrs. Ved Minocha, Manhattan, Kansas, have made a generous gift of $10,000 to the Kansas State University Foundation to establish the Dr. Bishan Das and Mrs. Ram Bai Minocha Scholarship in Veterinary Medicine. 

     The goal of this scholarship is to perpetuate the memory of Dr. Bishan Das and Mrs. Bai Minocha and to provide financial assistance to students in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University.  The recipient of this scholarship will be a fourth year student enrolled in the professional curriculum who is in good academic standing and who is the top student per class score in the curriculum of virology and has maintained a primary interest in this field.

     Harish and Ved Minocha have been long-time residents of Manhattan, Kansas.  Harish Minocha earned his DVM from Punjab College of Veterinary Medicine in India.  He graduated from Kansas State University in 1963 with a master’s degree in bacteriology and in 1967 with a PhD in virology.  He was the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Affairs from 1991-1997 at the college and has received the Beecham Award for Excellence in Research.  In addition, Harish is a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology.

     The Minochas are members of the Presidents Club, a leadership organization for friends and alumni of K-State.

     "Harish and Ved Minocha exemplify the word "stewardship" in every aspect of their lives. Dr. Minocha has been at the forefront of his research field throughout his extensive and eminent career. This gift demonstrates the love, appreciation, and respect that they have for the role that Dr. Bishan Das and Mrs. Ram Bai Minocha had in their lives," said Dr. Ralph Richardson, dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine.

     The KSU Foundation coordinates fundraising efforts with alumni, friends, corporations, and foundations to encourage private support for the University’s benefit.
