These funds will provide financial assistance to students from Kansas or Nebraska who are enrolled in the professional curriculum of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University who demonstrate proficiency in Physiology.

The Erickson’s wish is to award two scholarships during each academic year, one scholarship being awarded to a student from Kansas and one awarded to a student from Nebraska.

“As a faculty member at KSU, I know that many of our students take out loans each year to support their education and the cost of education continues to increase.   The College provides scholarships to many of our students; however, I believe there are many other outstanding students that qualify for scholarship funds.  We hope our donation will provide support for at least two students during the last three years of their education in the College of Veterinary Medicine,” said Dr. Erickson.

Dr. Erickson graduated from the KSU College of Veterinary Medicine in 1959 and he married Ann Nicolay a month later.  Dr. Erickson went on to complete a Ph.D. from Iowa State University in 1966.  He was an active member of the U.S. Air Force from 1966-1981.  During this period, Dr. Erickson worked primarily in medical research and development.  When he retired from the military as a Colonel in 1981, he returned to KSU as a Professor of Physiology.

Mrs. Erickson is a 1958 graduate of K-State with a BS degree in Elementary Education.  She taught for a few years and then chose to stay at home with their two sons, James and David.  Mrs. Erickson said she enjoys cross-stitching, reading, and walking in her spare time.

“It’s a very busy life but it’s a good one,” said Mrs. Erickson
