Dr. Lee Railsback, The E.R. Frank Awardee
At the Annual Veterinary Medical Alumni Association
Banquet on June 5, 1994, Dr. Lee Railsback was named the 1994 E.R. Frank
Award Recipient. This award honors those vets who have contributed
positively and significantly via long term service to the profession of
veterinary medicine and Kansas State University.
Dr. Railsback worked at a general practice in
Harrison, Arkansas from 1937-41; a U.S. Army (Maj.) 1941-46; General
Practice in Ellsworth, Mn 1946-61. As Assistant Dean of Student Affairs
he was truly an influential and trusted advisor, placing student
interests ahead of personal interests. He served with distinction as
Chief of Party and Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine in
Nigeria. Dr. Railsback published 6 articles; was a School Board Member
in Ellsworth, Mn from 1947-61; Arkansas VMA (Pres. 1939-40); Minn. VMA;
Iowa VMA; KVMA (lifetime member); AVMA (lifetime member); Masons;
Shrine.
Dr. Railsback also accomplished his personal goal of
canoeing in all 50 states. In addition to that he also paddled in 2
Canadian Provinces and the Republic of Mexico.
