Frank Jordan awarded E.R. Frank honor
E.R. Frank awardee, Dr. Frank Jordan (DVM 1939), has
been an energetic, dedicated member of the veterinary profession.
Dr. Jordan is a leading advocate of continuing
education for practicing veterinarians and a promoter of quality
veterinary medicine. He has served his profession in many capacities as
an American Veterinary Medical Association Delegate for several terms,
advisory board member of the KSU Foundation for Veterinary Medicine, a
department head of veterinary science at Mississippi State College, a
Major in the Army from 1940-45 and a clinical practitioner.
"Even though he has retired from practice, he still
enjoys watching the changes and growth that he founded at Abilene Animal
Hospital," his successor Dr. Michael Whitehair said. "I appreciate the
opportunity to take his place in the practice and hope to provide the
same opportunity for my successors."
During his career he has held the following
positions: department head, Veterinary Science, Mississippi State
College l939, general practitioner, Abilene, Kansas, l945-1975; author,
Veterinary Editor Progressive Farmer, l940; developer, Historic Old
Abilene Town Restoration, l957-86.
Dr. Jordan has participated in many organizations and
received many awards: Kansas Veterinarian of the Year, l959; President,
Vice President, District Trustee, and Alternate Delegate to Kansas
Veterinary Medical Association; Distinguished Service Award, KSU; KSU
Veterinary Endowment Member; Member, Kansas Board Veterinary Examiners,
l964; President's Club, KSU; Abilene Outstanding Citizen of the Year,
l985; Past-President, Kansas State Fair Association; Chamber of
Commerce, Abilene, l945-94; Member, County Zoning Board, l984-1994;
Member, Judicial Judge Appointment, l985-87; Elks; Masons: Scottish
Rite; Isis Shrine, Jesters.
