(Internal Medicine)
Assistant Professor, Small Animal Internal Medicine |
Dr. Schermerhorn's research interests include all aspects of diabetes
mellitus in dogs and cats. Major diabetes-related projects currently
underway in his laboratory include investigations into the cellular
mechanisms of insulin secretion and the biochemistry of feline glucose
metabolism. His clinical interests include canine and feline
endocrinology, with a special emphasis on clinical aspects of diabetes,
such as epidemiology, pathology, and therapeutic management.
