Veterinarians have an important role in the education of pet
owners and the public about the benefits of pet ownership and
potential risks of transmission of zoonotic agents between pets
and people. Goals for this conference include 1) provide
veterinarians with information and tools to help them increase
awareness and understanding of real and potential risks of
zoonoses among pet owners, 2) provide information for health
maintenance plans for pets of immunocompromised persons.
