Conference Objective
To provide practice management for the entire veterinary health care team that when implemented will result in improved animal care. The information presented will benefit both small and large animal practice owners, technicians, office staff, and veterinary students.

Veterinary Business Management Association

The VBMA is a student driven organization dedicated to advancing the profession through increasing business knowledge, creating networking opportunities, and empowering students to achieve their personal and professional goals. The organization currently consists of chapters at 18 US veterinary schools, with more expected to join in the immediate future. Each chapter manages their members independently, but total membership is close to 1,500 veterinary students.

Dr. Lowell Ackerman, DVM, DACVD, MBA, MPA
Bizvet, Inc
Tufts Cummings Veterinary School

Dr. Lowell Ackerman is a board-certified veterinary dermatologist, an award-winning author, an international lecturer, and a consultant in veterinary practice management. He is a graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College and a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Dermatology. In addition to his veterinary training, Lowell also holds an MPA from Harvard University, an MBA from the University of Phoenix and a Certificate in Veterinary Practice Administration from Purdue University/AAHA. Dr. Ackerman splits his time between clinical practice and consulting. He is the author of 77 books to date, including “Five-Minute Veterinary Practice Management Consult,” “Business Basics for Veterinarians,” “Management Basics for Veterinarians,” and “Effective Veterinary Practice.”

Karyn Gavzer, MBA, CVPM
KG Marketing and Training, Inc
Ms. Karyn Gavzer is a veterinary business consultant and internationally known writer and speaker. Karyn has more than 15 years experience in the veterinary industry. She was previously an independent veterinary marketing consultant to practices and industry. She is best known as the former director of marketing for the AVMA where she created training programs to help veterinarians and their staffs market their services more effectively. Karyn has her MBA and is a Certified Veterinary Hospital Manager.

Athena Haresign
Advanced Veterinary Consulting
Ms. Athena Haresign has been helping practices implement technology for over twenty years. Her experience as a practice manager and veterinary technician give her unique insight into the practical use of technology and implementation challenges. Athena spent many years as a systems consultant for Advanced Veterinary Systems and is a founder of VetInsite and Pet Portals.
