If you are a 2003, 2004, or 2005 DVM graduate, veterinary student or
veterinary technician, then your conference registration is
available at a reduced rate (see the Registration form). The Continuing
Education Committee hopes this price break will help recent
graduates get started in their professional continuing education
programs.
A late fee of $25.00 will be added to registrations after May 12,
2006.
Refunds, less $50.00 handling charge, will be made if notification
is received by May 26, 2006.

Ride the Vet Jet Van
transportation to and from the K-State Student Union, West Stadium, and
the College of Veterinary Medicine will be available continuously
throughout the conference. Call 785-532-5696 for specific requests. A
time schedule will be printed in the conference program.
The Campus Parking Department requires a parking permit. This permit
will be sent to you upon receipt of your registration. Please make sure
to hang the permit on your rearview mirror. This year the Campus Parking
Department has expanded our conference parking options! You will be able
to park in the far-south lot of K-State Student Union, half of the
metered area, and at the West Stadium lot. Parking at the College of
Veterinary Medicine is available on the west side (off Denison Ave) and
on the east side (off Jardine Dr) of the Veterinary Medical Complex.
The VetJet will provide transportation from the Veterinary Medical Complex
and West Stadium to and from the K-State Union. The VetJet schedule will
be mailed to you with your parking permit. Do not park in the client
parking or in any reserved stalls as you could get ticketed.
Conference registrants who are interested in child care during the
conference may contact KSU Child Care Development (785-532-3700) or
Flint Hills Resource and Referral (1-800-227-3578 or 785-532-7197) for
information and availability.
Conference attendees are welcome to utilize the Chester E. Peters
Recreation Complex and the Natatorium throughout the conference. You
will need to present a photo ID and your conference name badge to gain
admittance. Participants pay on a per-use basis.

The KVMA Vendor Trade Show will be held at the K-State Student Union
Ballroom Monday, June 5 through Tuesday, June 6. Conference educational
session breaks will be staggered throughout both days to provide more
time with vendors.

Five year class reunions will be
held in Manhattan the weekend of June 3 and 4. The five-year reunion
classes include 1946, 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981,
1986, 1991, 1996, and 2001.

College and campus tours will be available at 9:00 am and at 10:00
am on Saturday, June 3. Tours will begin at Trotter Hall, first
floor foyer.

Additional tours of the Veterinary Medical Complex, the Centennial
Plaza and Whispering Gardens will be available Sunday, June 4,
beginning at 2:15 pm and ending at 5:30 pm. There will be
transportation to and from the K-State Student Union for the Sunday
tours. The Veterinary Complex tour will begin at Trotter Hall First
Floor Foyer. Two blocks south of CVM, you can also visit the
University Garden plan is displayed in the Visitors Center on Sunday
between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm.

KVMA Auxiliary Silent Auction
Beginning at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 4, auction items will be on display
for bidding in the K-State Union, 2nd floor hallway. Place your bids
early for unique veterinary gifts and one-of-a-kind special items you’re
sure to want to take home. The KVMA Auxiliary uses the proceeds from
this auction as a source for providing scholarships for K-State
veterinary students each year.
Final bids can be made Tuesday evening beginning at 4:30 pm, K-State
Union Ground floor courtyard. The Sandwich/Ice Cream Social will begin in
the Courtyard at 5:30 pm. At 6:00 pm the auction bids will close and
winners will be announced. Remember your bid will be appreciated by the
young veterinary students receiving scholarships.

Vaccination Clinic
Rabies and Tetanus vaccine will be available for those desiring
vaccination.
Concerning rabies vaccination, the current ACIP recommendations state
that serological titers should be performed in lieu of routine boosters
for persons previously immunized with a tissue culture (human diploid
cell) rabies vaccine. A booster is recommended for persons with a rabies
titer of less than 1:5.
Concerning tetanus vaccination, the current recommendation is to have a
booster every 10 years.
A nurse from the Kansas State University Lafene Health Center will be
available Monday, June 5 from 8:00 to 11:00 am; Tuesday, June 6 from
8:00 to 11:00 am; and Wednesday, June 7 from 8:00 to 11:00 am to
administer rabies and tetanus vaccines.
The Rabies Laboratory will make every effort to have titer results
available on Wednesday for persons having blood drawn by 11:00 am
Monday, June 6.

Phlebotomists from Peterson Laboratory Services will be available on
Monday, June 5 from 7:00 to 10:30 am and Tuesday, June 6 from 7:00 to
10:30 am to collect specimens for Comprehensive Panel, CBC with
differential, Brucella Titer, Prostate Specific Antigen and/or other
tests as listed. A blood sample for a rabies titer may also be collected
for testing at the KSU Rabies Laboratory. Samples collected on Monday
morning may have results available Wednesday morning.

For accurate results, conference participants who wish to have the
chemistry profile done, should fast for 12 hours prior to the time of
testing.
A Complete Blood Count (CBC) with differential can be ordered. An IgG
Lyme’s Titer for past exposure titers will be available. CEA (Carcinoma
Embryonic Antigen) as a monitor for someone who has had colon cancer
will be available.
Each participant will receive the results of their Comprehensive Panel
and brucella titer via a self-addressed envelope a few days following
the completion of the conference. Results of the rabies titer collected
after Monday morning will be mailed to the participants after the
conference.
We advise you to make your room reservations as soon as possible as
rooms are limited in Manhattan and blocks are reserved on room
availability, first-come first-served basis.
