To provide the practitioner with up-to-date information on pain
management; deliver practical, case-based management data on mast cell
tumors, Cushings disease, diabetes mellitus and arrhythmias; and cover
the basics of making and interpreting dental radiographs.

Barret J. Bulmer,
DVM, MS, Diplomate ACVIM - Cardiology
Assistant Professor, Cardiology
Dr. Bulmer received his DVM from Louisiana State University. He
completed an internship at Colorado State University and a cardiology
residency at the University of Illinois. Barret joined the faculty at
K-State in the summer of 2002.
Ruthanne Chun,
DVM, Diplomate ACVIM - Oncology
Associate Professor, Clinical Oncology
Dr. Chun received her DVM degree from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed an
internship at Cornell University and a residency at Purdue University.
She was a clinical instructor in oncology at the University of
Wisconsin-Madison before joining the K-State faculty in 1997.
Laura Garrett,
DVM, Diplomate ACVIM-Oncology
Assistant Professor, Clinical Oncology
Dr. Garrett received her undergraduate and DVM degrees from the
University of Illinois. She did a 1-year rotating internship at the
University of Minnesota and then worked in a private referral practice
in the twin cities for 2 years. She next completed a 2-year residency in
comparative oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, after which
she spent 1-1/2 years at a referral practice in New Zealand before
joining the K-State faculty.
Jill Lurye, DVM,
MS, Diplomate ACVIM
Assistant Professor, Small Animal Medicine
Dr. Lurye received her DVM from the University of Minnesota. She
completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the
University of Illinois followed by a residency in small animal internal
medicine at Auburn University. While at Auburn she also completed a
Masters of Science and spent two years on faculty as a Visiting
Assistant Professor and Research Fellow. She joined the faculty at
K-State in September of 2004.
Rose McMurphy,
DVM, Diplomate ACVA
Associate Professor, Anesthesiology
Dr. Rose McMurphy is a graduate of Washington State University. She
completed an internship at Cornell University and a residency in
anesthesiology at the University of Florida. She has been a member of
the faculties at the University of Saskatechewan, the University of
Edinburgh, and Kansas State University. She is currently an associate
professor of anesthesiology and the director of the intensive care unit
at K-State.
Lisa Moore, DVM,
Diplomate ACVIM-Small Animal Internal Medicine
Associate Professor, Internal Medicine
Dr. Moore received her DVM from the University of Florida in 1991. She
completed an internship and medical residency at The Animal Medical
Center in New York City. Lisa went on to complete a third year of her
medical residency at the University of Florida and then returned to the
AMC as the staff gastroenterologist from 1995-1997. She was in private
practice in Tampa, FL before joining the K-State faculty in August 1998.
Matt Riegel,
DVM
Assistant Professor, Pet Health Center/Small Animal Surgery
Dr. Riegel received his DVM from Kansas State University in 2001. He was
in private practice at two different AAHA clinics before joining the
K-State faculty in the summer of 2003. Dr. Riegel's areas of clinical
interest include small animal preventative health and generalized
dentistry.
Thomas Schermerhorn,
VMD, Diplomate ACVIM-Small Animal Internal
Medicine
Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine
Dr. Schermerhorn received his VMD from the University of Pennsylvania.
He completed an internship at South Shore Veterinary Associates and went
on to complete a residency in small animal medicine at Cornell
University. He then completed research in pharmacology toward a PhD and
joined the
K-State faculty in 2001.
