Brett Andrews DVM

Dr. Andrews received his DVM in 1981 from Iowa State University.

Dr. Brown received his DVM in 1971 from K-State.

David Franz DVM

Dr. Franz received his DVM from Kansas State in 1970. After spending a year as an associate with the Hutchinson Small Animal Hospital in Hutchinson, KS, Dr. Franz was commissioned as Captain in the US Army in 1971. He spent 24 of his 27 years on active duty with the US Army Medical Research and Material Command, assigned to four of the Command's laboratories. During this time, he received a PhD in Physiology from Baylor College of Medicine in 1980. Dr. Franz was also a resident graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College. He retired from the US Army in 1998 with the rank of Colonel. Dr. Franz serves as the Deputy Director of the Center for Emergency Care and Disaster Preparedness, University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Medicine, where he holds an adjunct appointment as Professor. He also serves on the faculty of the Department of Justice, Center for Domestic Preparedness in Anniston, AL.

Dirk A. Hanson DVM

Dr. Hanson received his DVM from K-State in 1978.

Cleon V. Kimberling DVM
Professor and State Extension Veterinarian
Colorado State University

Dr. Kimberling describes himself as a sheep herder! He received his DVM from Colorado State University in 1959 and his MPH from the University of Minnesota in 1963. He returned to Colorado State University as a faculty member in 1965. Cleon has worked with USDA, ARS APHIS, and at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. In his current role as extension veterinarian, Dr. Kimberling presents workshops on all aspects of animal health and well-being, quality assurance, production efficiency, management and nutrition.


Lonnie J. King DVM PhD
Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine
Michigan State University

Dr. King received his DVM from The Ohio State Univ. He earned a Master of Science in epidemiology from the University of Minnesota and a Master's in public administration from American Univ. Prior to joining the faculty at Michigan State, he was Administrator for the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), US Dept of Agriculture. Dr. King lectures extensively on the future of animal health and veterinary medicine. He has been Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University since 1996. In 2002, he worked with the Center for Infectious Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control to help link and better integrate the veterinary profession within the CDC's bioterrorism programs, public health activities, and emerging infectious disease projects.

Gary Norsworthy DVM DABVP
Alamo Feline Health Center
San Antonio, Texas

Dr. Norsworthy earned his DVM degree in 1972 from Texas A&M University and has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 30 years. Dr. Norsworthy began writing and lecturing in 1975 and since has published over 30 articles in various veterinary journals. Dr. Norsworthy is the editor and major author of Feline Practice, a textbook for veterinarians, which was published in 1993 by Lippincott. His second book, The Feline Patient: Essentials of Diagnosis and Treatment, was published by Williams and Wilkins in 1998 with a 2nd edition published in 2002.

Margaret Root Kustritz DVM PhD DACT
Associate Clinical Specialist, Small Animal Reproduction
University of Minnesota

Dr. Root Kustritz is a 1987 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. After working in small animal private practice in the Twin Cities for several years, she returned to the University of Minnesota to complete a residency in theriogenology. She achieved board certification in theriogenology in 1994, and completed a PhD in theriogenology in 1995. She currently is employed as a clinical specialist in small animal reproduction at the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine and is the content editor of the PetCARE website.
