The second annual Update in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery is
designed to inform the large animal practitioner about the diagnostic
uses of ultrasonography in large animal practice as well as the economic
feasibility of investing in an ultrasound machine.

Calloway, DVM
Resident, Agricultural Practices, KSU
CVM
Dr. Calloway received his DVM from the University of Missouri. He then
completed an internship in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery at the
University of Illinois. Chris is currently a resident in Agricultural
Practices, Herd Health/Preventative Medicine at K-State.
Alex
Eckhoff, DVM
Resident, Equine Internal Medicine, KSU
CVM
Dr. Eckhoff graduated from La Salle University in Bogota (Colombia) in
1997. From 1998 to 2003, Dr. Eckhoff completed a PhD at The University
of Leipzig in Germany. She is currently a resident in Equine Internal
Medicine at K-State.
Andres
Estrada, DVM
Resident, Theriogenology, KSU CVM
Dr. Estrada graduated from La Salle University in Bogota (Colombia) in
1997. He was in equine practice for 5 years in his own country and then
completed two internships in equine theriogenology in Canada and
Germany. Dr. Estrada came to K-State as a theriogenology resident in
2001.
Kevin Hankins,
DVM
Veterinary Technical Consultant, Fort
Dodge Animal Health
Dr. Hankins received his DVM from Kansas State University in 1996. He
completed an internship in Equine Surgery and Medicine at Washington
State University before returning to Kansas State University as an
assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences. Dr. Hankins
joined Fort Dodge Animal Health as a Veterinary Technical Consultant in
October 2003. He will complete his MBA from Colorado State University in
December 2004.
Paul Jenson,
DVM
Resident, Equine Surgery, KSU CVM
Dr. Jenson graduated from Washington State University, College of
Veterinary Medicine in 1995. He practiced large animal medicine for 6
years in Utah and Idaho. He began a residency in Equine Surgery at
Kansas State University in 2001.
Molly
McCue, DVM
Resident, Equine Internal Medicine, KSU
CVM
Dr. McCue is a 2000 graduate of Kansas State University College of
Veterinary Medicine. Dr. McCue completed an internship in large animal
medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia. She is currently a
resident in Equine Internal Medicine at K-State.
Erika Simon,
DVM
Resident, Equine Surgery, KSU CVM
Dr. Simon received her DVM from Kansas State University in 2001. She
joined a mixed animal practice in Wyoming, and then returned to Kansas
State for an internship in Equine Medicine and Surgery. Erika is
currently a first year equine surgery resident at Kansas State
University.
Roberto
Torres Diaz, DVM
Resident, Agricultural Practices, KSU
CVM
Dr. Torres-Diaz obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in June of
2000 from Ross University. He completed a Large Animal Rotational
Internship at the University of Tennessee. Dr Torres-Diaz is currently
in an Agricultural Practices residency at K-State, during which he will
complete the requirement for candidacy of ACVP Boards in Food Animal
Practice.
