Guest Speakers

Franklyn Garry, DVM
Dr. Franklyn Garry received his DVM from Cornell University in 1981 and his MS from The Ohio State University in 1987. He worked in a dairy practice in upstate New York and then received advanced clinical training in ruminant disease management at the Maximillian University, Munich, Germany, and clinical residency training in food animal medicine and surgery at The Ohio State University. He is a specialist in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. He is currently a professor at Colorado State University, senior clinician in Food Animal Medicine and Surgery, and is the coordinator of the Integrated Livestock Management program.

Sam Graham, DVM
Dr. Graham received his DVM from Kansas State University in 1959. After 27 years in private practice, he became a state veterinarian with the State of Kansas.

John MacDonald, MEd, DVM, DACVD
Dr. MacDonald received his DVM from Cornell University in 1974. He completed his internship in small animal medicine and surgery in 1975 and his residency in internal medicine/dermatology in 1977 at Cornell University. Dr. MacDonald became a diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Dermatology in 1979. He has practiced veterinary dermatology for over 20 years and is currently a professor of dermatology at Auburn University.

Dave Pownell, MS
Mr. Pownell received his BS in computer science from McPherson College and a Master's degree from Kansas State University in Education Computing, Design, and Telecommunications. He taught computer classes part-time for Hutchinson Community College. Currently he is a doctoral student in educational administration at KSU and an educational technology specialist for the College of Education.

Gary Ross, DVM
Dr. Ross received his DVM from Cornell University in 1973. He was in private practice in Georgia, Maryland, and Virginia before joining the US Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, Nebraska. As the Research Center Veterinarian, he is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the health and animal care programs for approximately 25,000 cattle, sheep, and swine used in research projects. He also assists in coordinating and delivering the veterinary training programs provided by the Great Plains Veterinary Educational Center.

Gary Warner, DVM
Dr. Warner received his DVM in 1980 from Louisiana State University. He is a bovine practitioner at Elgin Veterinary Hospital, Elgin, Texas. Dr. Warner is Texas Veterinary Medical Associations's General Practitioner of the Year for 2000. He is recognized as one of the most progressive and innovative practitioners in the state by his colleagues. Dr. Warner has made numerous presentations to producer and veterinary groups on topics ranging from fertility management, practice tips, and surgery.

Jeff Werber, DVM
Dr. Werber received his BS from University of California at Berkeley, his MS from California State University, and his DVM (1984) from the University of California at Davis. Dr. Werber is currently with the Century Veterinary Group in Los Angeles, CA. He is well recognized as a journalist and as a radio pet medical editor. He has made numerous television appearances and has co-produced over a dozen videos. Dr. Werber has become one of the nation's foremost media veterinarians. He currently serves as the pet expert on CBS-TV's
The Early Show, Great Day America, and CBS-TV's Morning News in Los Angeles. He has also hosted his own show, Petcetera, on Discovery's Animal Planet Channel.
