Objectives
This conference will
Help the practitioner develop their skills in
performing fine needle aspirates and give them a basic approach to cytologic
interpretation.
Review and hone ECG reading skills.
Discuss the diagnostic steps essential for the
dermatologic patient.
Introduce the practitioner to new diagnostic tests in
the area of reproduction and offer clues on how to help distinguish what is going on
behaviorally in dogs and cats.

Ruthanne Chun, DVM,
Diplomate ACVIM
Assistant Professor, Clinical Oncology
Dr. Chun received her DVM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary
Medicine. She did a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at
Cornell. She completed a three-year residency in comparative oncology at Purdue and then
worked as a clinical instructor in oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School
of Veterinary Medicine before joining the KSU faculty in 1997.
Mary Bagladi-Swanson,
DVM, Diplomate ACVD Assistant Professor, Dermatology
Dr. Bagladi-Swanson graduated from Kansas State University and then entered private
practice. In 1995, she completed a dermatology residency from Cornell University. Before
joining the KSU faculty, Dr. Bagladi was a faculty member at the Iowa State University
Teaching Hospital.
Laura Garrett, DVM,
Diplomate ACVIM Assistant Professor, Clinical Oncology
Dr. Garrett received her undergraduate and DVM degrees from the University of Illinois.
She did a one-year rotating internship at the University of Minnesota and then worked in a
private referral practice in the twin cities for two years. She next completed a two-year
residency in comparative oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, after which she
spent 1-1/2 years at a referral practice in New Zealand before coming to KSU.
Kathy Gaughan, DVM,
Diplomate ABVP Assistant Professor, Community Practice
Dr. Gaughan received her DVM from KSU in 1992. Kathy was in private practice before
joining the Kansas State University faculty in 1993. Her special interest is in behavior
and the human/animal bond. Dr. Gaughan has been certified as a Diplomate
by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) specializing in
canine and feline practice.
Lisa Moore, DVM,
Diplomate ACVIM Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine
Dr. Moore graduated from University of Florida. She completed an internship and medical
residency at The Animal Medical Center in New York City. Lisa completed the third year of
her medical residency at University of Florida and then returned to the AMC as a staff
gastroenterologist. She was in private practice in Tampa, FL. She joined the KSU faculty
in 1998. Her primary interests are gastroenterology, critical care, endocrinology, and
infectious diseases.
