  1. Update on the recent advances in diagnosis and management of the icteric cat.

  2. Review of the diagnosis and treatment of anemia, coagulopathies and heart failure in dogs.

Speakers
Ruthanne Chun, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM

Assistant Professor, Clinical Oncology
Dr. Chun received her DVM from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. She did a one year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Cornell University. She completed a three year residency in comparative oncology at Purdue University and then worked as a clinical instructor in oncology at the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Veterinary medicine before joining the Kansas State University faculty in 1997.

Laura Garrett, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM
Assistant Professor, Clinical Oncology
Dr. Garrett received her undergraduate and DVM degrees from the University of Illinois. She did a one-year rotating internship at the University of Minnesota and then worked in a private referral practice in the twin cities for 2 years. She next completed a 2-year residency in comparative oncology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, after which she spent 1-1/2 years at a referral practice in New Zealand before coming to KSU.

Ken Harkin, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM
Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine
Dr. Harkin is an assistant professor of small animal internal medicine in the department of Clinical Sciences at KSU. He received his DVM from Iowa State and completed a residency in internal medicine at Michigan State University. He was in a private referral practice for 3 years before joining the faculty at KSU in 1997.

Lisa Moore, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM
Assistant Professor, Internal Medicine
Dr. Moore graduated from University of Florida. She completed an internship and medical residency at The Animal Medical Center (AMC) in New York City. Lisa completed the third year of her medical residency at University of Florida and then returned to the AMC as a staff gastroenterologist. She was in private practice in Tampa, FL. She joined the Kansas State University faculty in August 1998. Her primary interests are gastroenterology, critical care, endocrinology, and infectious diseases.

Dianne Phillips, DVM
Resident, Small Animal Medicine
Dr. Phillips received her DVM from the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1998. After completing a one-year small animal rotating internship in medicine and surgery at the VCA Berwyn Animal Hospital/VCA Franklin Park Animal Hospital in Chicago, IL, she joined the faculty at Kansas State University in 1999.
