Comparative Anatomy of Exotic Animals: Clinical Implications - Dr. Ramiro Isaza
This conference will provide an update on medicine and diagnostic techniques and surgical
procedures used in companion birds, reptiles, rabbits, and other small exotic mammals. In
addition, there will be three optional wet labs: CO2 Laser Surgery; Comparative
Cytodiagnosis in Reptiles, Birds, and Small Animals; and Comparative Anatomy of Exotic
Animals.
CO2 Laser Surgery: An Introduction
This laboratory will introduce you to the mechanics, instrumentation, and operation of the
CO2 laser in veterinary medicine. Using a variety of inanimate objects, participants will
get "hands-on" experience in using the CO2 laser.
Comparative Cytodiagnosis: Reptiles, Birds, and Small Mammals
Using a high-quality graphic and an interactive-style presentation, the hematology
and cytology of reptiles, birds, and selected small exotic mammals will be reviewed.
Cytodiagnosis of samples collected from a variety of clinical cases will be discussed.
Comparative Anatomy of Exotic Animals: Clinical Implications
Using a variety of preserved reptiles, birds, and small mammals, this "hands-on"
workshop will compare the anatomy of these species with emphasis on clinical application.
