••Objectives
The emergency clinician is often confronted with patients displaying neurologic
dysfunction. This conference will cover both emergency treatment and intensive care
guidelines for a variety of neurologic disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, and
peripheral nervous system.

Neurologic diseases relatively unique to cats, ie idiosyncratic
reactions to oral valium, ischemic neuromyopathy and cardiac disease, etc.

••Speakers
Curtis Dewey, DVM, Diplomate ACVIM, Diplomate ACVS
Dr. Dewey received his DVM from New York State College of
Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University in 1989. Curtis completed his internship and
residency in surgery at the University of Georgia. He completed another residency in
Neurology/Neurosurgery at the University of California, Davis. He became board certified
in both the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (neurology) and the American
College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1996. Currently he is an assistant professor of
neurology/neurosurgery in the Department of Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at the
College of Veterinary Medicine, Texas A&M University.
••SCVECCS Advisor
Rose McMurphy, DVM, Diplomate ACVA
Dr. McMurphy received her DVM from Washington State University
in 1982. She completed an internship at Cornell followed by a residency at the University
of Florida. In 1990, she became a diplomate in the American College of Veterinary
Anesthesiology. In 1989, Rose joined the faculty at Kansas State University. Currently she
is an associate professor in anesthesiology and coordinates a class in emergency medicine.
