Objectives
The focus will be to introduce the practitioner to the use of Personal
Data Assistants (PDAs) with specific application discussions on client data base
management, billing for services, case management, inventory control, and retrieval of
reference material.

Speakers
Mark Spire, DVM, MS, Diplomate
ACT
Dr. Spire received his DVM from Texas A&M in 1974. He is a
diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists and is currently a professor in the
department of Food Animal Health and Management Center at the College of Veterinary
Medicine, Kansas State University.
Dale Blasi, MS, PhD
Dr. Blasi received his PhD from the University of Nebraska in
1989. He received his MS and BS from the Colorado State University. Dr. Blasi
is currently a State Beef Specialist for Stocker and Forage Nutrition and Management in
the Department of Animal Sciences and Industry, Kansas State University.
Roger McHaney, MBA, PhD
For 8 years prior to starting an academic career, Roger McHaney
was employed by the Jervis B. Webb Company. While there he developed business
software for clients in corporations such as General Motors, Goodyear, Ford, IBM,
Chrysler, Kodak, Caterpillar, the Los Angeles Times, and the Boston Globe. His
current research interests include data collection techniques, automated guided vehicle
system simulation, and innovative uses for simulation languages. Dr. McHaney holds a
PhD from the University of Arkansas where he specialized in computer information systems
and quantitative analysis. He is currently an associate professor of management
information systems at Kansas State University. Roger is author of the 1991 Academic
Press book, Computer Simulation: A Practical Perspective and has published
simulation related research in journals such as Decision Sciences, Information and
Management, Decision Support Systems, International Journal of Production Research and
Simulation.
Mark Pagell, PhD
Dr. Pagell is an assistant professor in the department of
Management at Kansas State University. He received his PhD in operations management
from Michigan State University in 1997. Dr. Pagells research interests
include strategic supply chain integration, structuring organizations to respond to
environmental uncertainty, and the use of teams in operational environments. This
research has appeared in numerous journals including Journal of Operations Management,
Production and Operations Management, Production and Inventory Control Journal, and the
International Journal of Purchasing and Materials Management.
Dave Pownell
Mr. Pownell received his BS in Computer Science Education from
McPherson College with a Masters degree from Kansas State University in Educational
Computing, Design, and Telecommunications. Currently, he is a doctoral student in
educational administration at KSU. While working on his undergraduate degree, he
teaches computer classes part-time for Hutchinson Community College. He currently his an
educational technology specialist for the College of Education, Kansas State University.
Cancellation Clause
On October 30, the decision to hold or cancel this workshop will
be made based on the number of registrations vs. the program costs. We need the
October 27th deadline so we can order and program the TRGpros. If the conference is
canceled, we will notify only the people who have registered. If you have registered
and the meeting is canceled, we will notify you by October 31. If the conference is
canceled, we will refund you the registration fee but cannot be held responsible for other
travel or lodging costs. If you wish to register after October 27, please call
785-532-5569 to verify if the conference will be held.
The KSU Division of Continuing Education may cancel or postpone any
course or activity because of insufficient enrollment or other unforeseen
circumstances. If a program is canceled or postponed, the Division of Continuing
Education will refund registration fees but cannot be held responsible for other costs,
charges, or expenses, including cancellation/change charges assess by airlines or travel
agencies.
