Getting Your Practice Online

This session will give you the necessary information to put your business online. During the lecture you will learn the basics of HTML, the language of the Internet, posting your information to a web server, submitting your site to search engines, and domain name registration. Once the lecture has been completed, we will move to the lab and you will build your very own web site! Attendees will receive a free CD-ROM with the necessary tools and information on it to take with them. Pre-requisites: knowledge of computers, intermediate knowledge of Windows 95 (manipulating and moving files), and knowledge of Internet topics and maneuvering through the web.

Equine Ocular Diagnostics and Treatment

Wet Lab

This course will be a refresher course on ophthalmic examination and will discuss methods of therapy. A few of the specific topics covered will be lacrimal duct flush, indirect ophthalmoscopy and subconjunctival lavage systems.

Emergency Medicine Lecture and Wet Lab

Lecture Section: Introduction by Tim Crowe on 1) Practical and Lifesaving Readiness, Evaluation, and Resuscitation Guidelines for the Practitioner; 2) Practical and Lifesaving Guidelines for Airway and Respiratory Emergencies, and Cardiovascular Emergencies; and, 3) A video produced by Cook Veterinary Products on Emergency and Critical Care Procedures.

Wet Lab Session:

Airway procedures - lateral position, laryngeal exam and tracheal intubation, transtracheal catheter insertion for oxygen delivery, tracheotomy, and permanent tracheostomy and chest tube placement after thoracocentesis.

Cardiovascular procedures - mini cut dow, full surgical cut down; needle catheters, intraosseus techniques, central venous pressure monitoring, closed and open chest CPR.

Oxygen delivery and feed tube placement - nasal, nasopharyngeal, nasotracheal, nasoesophageal, and nasogastric tube insertion and use will be demonstrated and if time permits, participants will practice inserting.
