Clinical Assistant Professor of Veterinary Pathology
The Department of Veterinary Microbiology and
Pathology, College of Veterinary Medicine and the Washington
Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WADDL) at Washington State
University invite applications for a full-time, clinical track
Assistant Professor. This position is defined as 80% diagnostic
service/teaching and 20% scholarly activity. Diagnostic service
and teaching activities will primarily involve mammalian,
aquatic animal, and avian diagnostic pathology in the WADDL,
with an academic home in the Department of Veterinary
Microbiology and Pathology. Teaching responsibilities will
include one-on-one training of post-DVM graduate students in
veterinary anatomic pathology, teaching of post-DVM graduate
students in anatomic pathology seminars, and small group
teaching of veterinary students enrolled in diagnostic
laboratory service blocks. This position requires 10% of the
diagnostic/teaching effort go toward recruitment of post-DVM
pathology trainees, coordination of pathology externships and
advising of incoming trainees. The 20% scholarly activity effort
will be devoted to publication of diagnostic laboratory case
information, participation in collaborative research, and
similar investigational activities.
A DVM (or equivalent) degree and completion of a post-DVM
training program in veterinary pathology are required. Diplomate
status in the American or European College of Veterinary
Pathologists (ACVP or ECVP) is preferred, but board eligibility
and intent to become board certified in anatomic pathology are
required. Experience in a diagnostic laboratory environment and
demonstrated experience in classroom teaching of veterinary
pathology is highly preferred. An advanced degree (MS or PhD) in
a discipline related to veterinary pathology would also be
preferred.
WADDL is an AAVLD accredited, full service unit serving
companion animal, agricultural animal, and public health in the
Pacific Northwest. WADDL is a founding member of the National
Animal Health Laboratory Network, and serves as a sentinel and
surveillance laboratory for emerging diseases. More information
