The SPCA of Texas was founded in 1938 and is still the leader in animal
welfare for the state of Texas. Since the SPCA of Texas became a
'Reservation Required" organization, it never euthanizes for space and never
turns an animal away because of their looks, age, breed or non-contagious
treatable health condition based upon available space. And, under normal
circumstances, SPCA of Texas Veterinarians do not participate in any Shelter
euthanasia.
At the present time the SPCA of Texas is looking for a Surgery & Wellness
Veterinarian for its Village Fair, Dallas, Texas location. This position is
not on emergency or after hours call.
Our Veterinarian will work in the morning as a Surgery Vet performing spay
and neuter surgeries and in the afternoon as a Wellness Vet working with
clients to maintain the health of animals, diagnosing and treating sick or
injured animals (primarily dogs and cats, although there are opportunities
from time to time to work with a wide variety of critters, including pocket
pets, avians, reptiles, lagomorphs, etc...).
The SPCA of Texas always welcomes and encourages our Veterinarians to assist
with client education programs in the promotion of animal welfare.
EQUIPMENT
Currently, SPCA of Texas Veterinarians have use of an ultrasound machine,
pulse oximetery, Doppler blood pressure monitor, Sharn EKG, and state of the
art radiograph equipment and are assisted by Vet Techs.
WAGES & EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS
The SPCA of Texas has a wage range for Veterinarians which begins with a
minimum of $62,000 annually for 1 year or less experienced Veterinarians up
to $96,000 annually for Veterinarians with more than 15 years of experience.
In addition, our Veterinarians have the opportunity to earn a performance
bonus and the SPCA of Texas offers Health insurance and basic Life Insurance
at no cost to employees upon reaching 90 days of employment. Health
insurance for family members as well as supplemental life insurance for
employees and family members is available at the employee's expense through
payroll deduction.
SPCA of Texas employees become
eligible for Earned Leave after six (6) months of employment. Employees earn
3.08 hours per week up to a maximum of 160 hours in the first year of
employment.
A 403(b) savings plan is available through Mutual Of America on day one.
SPCA of Texas employees are eligible to make contributions through payroll
deduction and after one year of continuous employment, the SPCA of Texas
will match up to 3%, of an employees contributions.
The SPCA of Texas supports employees who wish to continue their education or
secure CE credits to retain their professional license and has established a
reimbursement program for tuition incurred through approved institutions of
learning.

the Surgery & Wellness Veterinarian position will be working with other
experienced Veterinarians and will have the opportunity to work with an
experienced Chief Veterinarian thus providing an opportunity for the
individual to broaden their skills.
REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a graduate degree from an accredited veterinary
college (DVM or VMD) and a license to practice veterinary medicine in the
state of Texas. One year of Shelter Wellness or Surgery experience is
preferred but not required.
