Faculty Position in Large Animal Anesthesia. The School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, Department of Clinical Studies – New Bolton Center invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Anesthesia in the Tenure Track or Clinician Educator Track.

Requirements include a DVM/equivalent degree and board eligibility or certification in anesthesiology in either the ACVA or ECVAA. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Clinical responsibilities include primary anesthesia care, supervision of anesthetic management of equine and other large animal patients, including research animals, and participation in the out of hours anesthesia rotation. Facilities also include an active large animal intensive care unit and neonatal critical care unit. The candidate is expected to participate in the academic program of the section, including didactic and laboratory teaching of veterinary and veterinary technician students, residents and technicians. Scholarly activity is expected and numerous opportunities exist for collaborative projects in the Schools of Veterinary Medicine and Medicine. Candidates with an interest in pain management will be encouraged to participate in the development of new, acute and chronic pain management strategies for hospitalized patients.

New Bolton Center is located in a rural setting in scenic Pennsylvania Hunt Country, approximately 35 miles southwest of the main University Campus in Philadelphia. The anesthesia/surgical patient population is predominantly equine with approximately 1,500 patients anesthetized each year.
